To help your child learn the lower case letter k.
Goal
At the end of the lesson your child will be able to recognize the lower case letter k and say its name.

Introductory activity
What you will need:
- A can of shaving cream
- A flat plastic surface, like a plastic plate or a tabletop
- Some paper towels
What to do:
- Spray shaving cream atop the flat plastic surface.
- Using your fingers, draw a lower cake k into the shaving cream.
- Have your child draw a k a well. While they are drawing you can tell them that it is the letter k and it makes the ‘kuh’ sound.
Challenge
If your child learns the lower case k right away, have them work on the supplemental worksheets for the letter K.
Reinforcement activity
Print out the attached worksheet. Ask your child to complete the worksheet by themselves. Feel free to help out if they get stuck or ask any questions.
Evaluation
In order to see if your child has achieved the goal of this lesson, write the letter k on a piece of paper with some other letters, and have them pick out the letter k.
