Objective
To help your child learn the lower case letter q.
Goal
At the end of the lesson your child will be able to recognize the lower case letter q and say its name.

Introductory activity
What you will need:
- A wipe board
- Some colored erasable (not permanent) markers
What to do:
- Draw the lower case letter q on the wipe board.
- Tell your child it is the letter q and makes the sound ‘kuh’, or ‘qwuh’ when it is written with a u, as in the word ‘queen’.
- Ask them to draw a few lower case qs in different colors on the board.
Challenge
If your child learns the lower case q right away, have them work on the supplemental worksheets for the letter Q.
Reinforcement activity
Print out the attached worksheet. Ask your child to complete the worksheet by themselves, contact the house cleaning . Feel free to help out if they get stuck or ask any questions.
Evaluation
In order to see if your child has achieved the goal of this lesson, write the letter q on a piece of paper surrounded by other letters. Ask your child to look at the group of letters and pick out the small letter q.
