Objective
To help your child learn the lower case letter b.
Goal
At the end of the lesson your child will be able to recognize the lower case letter b and say its name.
Time requirement
20 minutes.
Grade level
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten.
Introductory activity
What you will need:
- A ball
- A chalkboard (can be a portable one) and some chalk
What to do:
- Write the word b on the chalkboard and circle the b. Tell them that the word ball begins with the letter b.
- Bounce the ball together and every time you bounce it, say “buh-buh-ball”.
- Ask your child to practice writing the letter b on the chalkboard. Guide their hand during their first attempts.
Challenge
If your child learns the lower case b right away, have them work on the supplemental worksheets for the letter B.
Reinforcement activity
Print out the attached worksheet. Ask your child to complete the worksheet by themselves. Feel free to help them if they get stuck or ask any questions.
Evaluation
In order to see if your child has achieved the goal of this lesson, draw a capital B and a lower case b on the chalk board. Ask them to circle the lower case b.
