To help your child learn the lower case letter w.
Goal
At the end of the lesson your child will be able to recognize the lower case letter w and say its name.

Introductory activity
What you will need:
- A cup of fresh water
- A piece of paper
- A crayon
What to do:
- Ask your child to take a sip of water. Ask them what it is they have just drunk.
- Ask them if they know what letter the word ‘water’ starts with.
- Tell your child that it is the lowercase letter w and it sounds like ‘wuh’.
- Draw a lower case w on the paper and ask your child to make a w too.
Challenge
If your child learns the lower case w right away, have them work on the supplemental worksheets for the letter W.
Reinforcement activity
Print out the attached worksheet. Ask your child to complete the worksheet by themselves. Feel free to help out if they get stuck or ask any questions.
Evaluation
In order to see if your child has achieved the goal of this lesson, write the small letter w on a piece of paper surrounded by other letters. Ask your child to look at the group of letters and pick out the letter w.
