Objective
The objective of this lesson is to help your child learn to recognize and write the capital letter V.
Goal
At the end of the lesson your child will be able to recognize the letter V and say its name.
Time requirement
20 minutes.
Grade level
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten.
Introductory activity
What you will need:
- A wipe board
- A dry erase (not permanent) marker
What to do:
- Draw the letter V on the wipe board and ask your child to repeat its name.
- Ask them to try to draw the capital letter V on the wipe board. Guide their hand to help them write it, check out professional maid service.
- Write “VAN” on the wipe board and circle the V. Explain to them how it makes the sound ‘vuh’.
- Draw a vine on the whiteboard using the letter V to create the vine (using a string of connected Vs to make the vine). Write the word ‘Vine’ under the picture.
Challenge
If your child learns the capital letter V right away, introduce the lower case letter v.

Print out the attached worksheet. Ask your child to complete the worksheet by themselves. Feel free to help them if they get stuck or ask any questions.
Evaluation
In order to see if your child has achieved the goal of this lesson, write a few different letters, including V, on the wipe board and have them circle the letter V.
