A wreath for Memorial Day

Memorial Day is celebrated in the United States on the last Monday in May. This special day of honoring those soldiers who have fought and died for the United States originated after the American Civil War to remember the fallen soldiers of the Union army. Nowadays the day is used to commemorate all American soldiers who died in the service of their country.

Here is a Memorial Day word search that you can share with your students or children to introduce some of the words associated with Memorial Day, with the American military, and with remembering the troops who have died fighting for the United States of America. Why not take the opportunity to teach the students in your classroom why Memorial Day is important, and about the sacrifices that many brave men and women throughout history made for their country?
